Rising through the ranks

Over the past few months, our sponsored tennis star Poppy Clemow has continued to shine, stepping up to new challenges and delivering some truly impressive performances on and off the court.

Poppy kicked off the season with a strong showing at a Regional Tour event at Bath University, where she played superbly to reach the final of the 11U singles without dropping a set along the way. While the final didn’t quite go her way, it was a performance to be proud of and another sign of how far she’s come.

She then made the leap into her first 12U tournament at the St Austell Open G4, taking the step up in her stride. Once again, Poppy powered through to the final in straight sets, narrowly missing out in a thrilling match tie break. Competing so confidently at a higher level was a huge achievement and an exciting glimpse of what’s ahead.

That determination paid off at the Bristol G3 Open, where Poppy claimed first place against some of the UK’s top players in her age group. After finishing runner‑up in her previous tournaments, she showed real grit and focus to take the title, earning a well‑deserved win that marked a standout moment in her season.

Away from tennis, Poppy has been just as impressive. She’s enjoyed a hugely successful run in cross country, winning the Cornwall Schools area race and qualifying for the finals, before going on to place first at the ISA Regional Cross Country event. She then finished an incredible fourth place at the ISA National Cross Country event, despite competing against the older year group again. Poppy has also been celebrating success with her 10U netball team, who won their 11U regional event and are heading to the ISA National event later this year.
