With half-term on the horizon and the sun-filled summer coming gradually to an end, we look into the activities on offer at The Esplanade and throughout Cornwall for some family fun, whether it rains or shines!

Featuring a variety of indoor facilities, The Esplanade caters to all age groups with something for the whole family. Cosy up in our very own cinema room with family-favourite movies premiering throughout the day – see here. Or order a hot chocolate with a mountain of marshmallows, explore our book nook, and nestle into the lounge with a beachside read, allowing the adventures to unfold with your imagination.

For the active ones we have our indoor swimming pool (with a sauna and hot tub for parents too!), the perfect way to have a splash without the chilly temperatures of the coastal sea. Get your competitive streak on in the multi-generational play area, kitted out with pool tables, a jungle gym, foosball table and arcade games, perfect to keep all ages entertained. And with the area situated right beside the restaurant, mums & dads can enjoy a drink with beachside views whilst the kids are kept entertained within sight - perfect!

If you’re feeling adventurous, Dairyland Farm Park just on the outskirts of Newquay have the return of “Scaryland”. Get into the Halloween spirit, explore the pumpkin patch and find your perfect pumpkin to take home. Visit the farm yard to see the animals, with animal petting or for the young thrill-seekers, have a play in the Bull Pen indoor play area.

For the automotive lovers, hop aboard the express train to Lappa Valley. Take a nostalgic steam train ride through the beautiful Cornish Countryside. Visiting the 26^th and 27^th October? Peppa Pig will be making an appearance throughout these days, oink! End the season with fireworks on the 30^th October, going out with a bang.

Fancy a Spooktacular Halloween filled October? Camel Creek will be hosting some special haunted guests. With plenty of rides to accommodate all fun-seekers this is a great day out. Some of the daily animal activities include rabbit petting, meerkat talks or pony and shire grooming.

With over 40 naturally themed habitats, The Blue Reef Aquarium in Newquay is a journey from local waters to exotic seas, perfect for even the rainy day to explore. You’ll have the opportunity to come face-to-face with freshwater turtles, meet the pufferfish or wander through the underwater tunnel at the heart of the aquarium. With captivating views of reef sharks, shoals of colourful fish, or loggerhead sea turtles swimming overhead, The Blue Reef Aquarium aims to fascinate and educate on the creatures and conservation of the deep.
