Putting Cornwall on the map for space discoveries
Putting Cornwall on the map for space discoveries.
Making history in Cornwall, the new Spaceport Cornwall on the outskirts of Newquay will be launching satellites to space from UK soil, bringing the unknown of space a little closer to earth.
With a mission to access Space safely and responsibly and a passionate focus on sustainability, Spaceport Cornwall gives the opportunity to access Space like never before. Home to “a dedicated horizontal launch site, the world's most capable satellite ground station, deep space communications, earth observation, flight testing and satellite launches, Cornwall's Space Cluster is rapidly becoming a world leading technology destination for businesses.” – spaceportcornwall.com
Pushing the boundaries, the launchpad takes on a horizontal launch location utilising an existing runway and airport facilities. The station will see carrier launch systems like Virgin Orbit’s modified Boeing 747 Cosmic Girls take off from the runway, fly up to altitude and deploy their rocket mid-air allowing the rocket to take its satellites payloads into Low Earth Orbit, whilst the carrier returns to land.
Not only will the site give opportunity to see new journeys of satellites, it’s also a hub to educate and operate in an environment specifically designed for innovation.
The launch is imminent.
Keep up to date with details here and be one of the first to witness something very special.
