National Walking Month at The Esplanade Hotel

As the fresh sea breeze rolls in and the sun begins to linger a little longer in the sky, there’s no better time to stretch your legs, breathe in the coastal air, and explore the great outdoors. This May, we’re lacing up our walking shoes and embracing National Walking Month in true Esplanade style—with scenic strolls, friendly competition, and a big dose of feel-good steps.

Step Challenge: On Your Marks, Get Set, Walk!

We’re kicking things off with a bit of fun and friendly rivalry: our Sales & Marketing Team Step Challenge. Throughout the month, the team will be competing, behind-the-scenes, to see who can rack up the most steps—whether that’s pacing along Fistral’s golden sands, climbing the coastal paths, or sneaking in laps around the hotel corridors.

You can follow along over on our social media, where we’ll be sharing updates, photos and maybe even a few competitive confessions along the way! Who will be crowned the Esplanade Step Champion? Time (and steps!) will tell…

Walk This Way: Scenic Routes & Local Trails

Of course, it wouldn’t be National Walking Month without highlighting some of the incredible walking routes on our doorstep. Throughout May, we’ll be sharing our favourite coastal paths, dog-friendly trails, and hidden local gems—complete with handy maps, photos and recommendations on where to pause for a coffee or a sea-view snack.

Whether you’re wandering along Fistral Beach or heading out for a full day of Cornish adventure, we’ve got a trail for every pace.

Out exploring? We want to see your best view! To celebrate the season, keep an eye out on socials for our #EsplanadeExplorer Best View Photo Challenge. Capture your favourite coastal moment—think cliff-top panoramas, beach sunsets, or woodland wanders—and share it on Instagram using the hashtag #EsplanadeExplorer.

We’ll be selecting our favourite shots throughout the month to feature on our socials, so keep those cameras at the ready. Bonus points for four-legged friends or surprise seal sightings!
